The Myth of Continuous Learning
“Continuous learning” has become toxic advice. Let me explain.
The Pressure
New framework every month. New AI model every week. “10x developers” learning constantly.
The message: If you’re not learning something new constantly, you’re falling behind.
The Reality
Learning fatigue is real. You can’t absorb new information endlessly without burnout.
What Actually Works
Deep, not broad. Master what you use. Don’t dabble in everything.
Gaps, not continuous. Sprint, then rest. Learn, then consolidate.
Relevant, not trendy. Learn what helps your work, not what’s hyped.
Permission to Stop
You don’t need to learn the new JavaScript framework. Or the latest AI model. Or that new database.
Focus on depth in your stack. Ignore the rest.
It’s okay to not keep up with everything. Nobody actually does.
