In short: Routinely does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. All information stays on your device and in your private iCloud account.
1. Information We Collect
Routinely stores the following data locally on your device and optionally in your private iCloud account:
- Child's first name โ Used only to personalize greetings within the app (e.g., "Hi Andriel!").
- Routine data โ Names, steps, emojis, timer durations, and optional scheduled times for the routines you create.
- Completion history โ Records of completed routines including date, duration, and mood check-ins. Stored locally and in iCloud.
- Voice recordings โ Optional audio prompts you record for individual routine steps. Stored as local files.
- App settings โ Your preferences for audio, celebrations, timers, PIN lock, smart suggestions, and sync options.
2. How Data Is Stored
All data is stored using:
- On-device storage โ JSON files in the app's sandboxed Documents directory.
- iCloud Documents (optional) โ If you are signed into iCloud, data syncs to your private iCloud account so it is available across your devices. This data is encrypted by Apple and only accessible to you.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
Routinely does not:
- Collect analytics or usage data
- Use any third-party tracking or advertising SDKs
- Send any data to our servers (we have no servers)
- Share data with any third parties
- Require an account or login
- Use cookies or web tracking
- Access your contacts, location, or camera
- Access your Calendar or Reminders without explicit permission
4. Children's Privacy
Routinely is designed for use by children under the supervision of a parent or caregiver. We take children's privacy seriously:
- The app is designed to comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and Apple's Kids Category guidelines.
- No personal information is collected from children.
- No data leaves the device or the family's iCloud account.
- Parent Mode is protected by a PIN to prevent unsupervised changes.
5. Permissions
Routinely may request the following device permissions:
- Microphone โ Only if you choose to record custom voice prompts for routine steps. Recordings are stored locally.
- Photo Library โ Only if you choose to add custom images to routine steps. Images are stored locally.
- Notifications โ Only if you enable routine reminders. Notifications are scheduled locally and do not use push notification servers.
- Calendar โ Only if you enable Calendar sync in Parent Mode (Pro feature). Routinely creates events in a dedicated "Routinely" calendar on your device. Calendar data stays in your Apple Calendar and iCloud account.
- Reminders โ Only if you enable Reminders sync in Parent Mode (Pro feature). Routinely creates reminder items for routine steps. Reminder data stays in your Apple Reminders and iCloud account.
6. Data Deletion
You can delete all app data at any time by:
- Deleting individual routines in Parent Mode
- Uninstalling the app (removes all local data)
- Removing Routinely data from iCloud via Settings โ Apple ID โ iCloud โ Manage Storage
7. Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will post the updated version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Since we do not collect contact information, we cannot notify you directly โ please check this page periodically.
